<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/15236493452" title="Shandiin Kitschy Coo by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Shandiin Kitschy Coo" height="640" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3887/15236493452_5c1499d1b8_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm psyched to be part of <a href="http://www.francessuzanne.com/2014/09/flip-pattern-fall-2014-september-showcase.html" target="_blank">Frances Suzanne's September Showcase</a> today, a series showing love and appreciation for rising Indie designers. Well, you don't have to ask me twice to show my love for Sarah from <a href="http://emmyloubeedoo.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Emmyloubeedoo</a> / <a href="https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/LouBeeClothing?ref=l2-shopheader-name" target="_blank">Loubeeclothing</a>! Her earlier Hosh Pants, Doli Tank, and Bimaa Sweater patterns have been massively successful and I think her newest, the Shandiin will be too. I love how modern and distinctive Sarah's patterns are, but completely wearable at the same time.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/15213856926" title="shandiin front close by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="shandiin front close" height="640" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3862/15213856926_8d637373a9_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
The Shandiin Tank and Tunic pattern has two lengths (duh), narrow bias straps, a crescent cut out in the back, pull over the head or button front options, and optional elasticated puff hem. It's intended for wovens but I used knits during testing and will unapologetically use knits forever. There are pattern pieces for making your own bias straps but I used store-bought bias binding with a picot edge. The upper back fabric is cotton / lycra Cherry Girls, the main fabric the most Maia-est fabric I've ever had, Waterlily.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/15050311977" title="Shandiin back 2 by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Shandiin back 2" height="640" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3923/15050311977_44acce8db3_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
DAT BACK THO. <br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/15050309087" title="Shandiin full 2 by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Shandiin full 2" height="640" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5587/15050309087_3bfa6d6cb0_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
I lengthened the pattern to a shortish dress length, and omitted the hem facings for a standard hem. I love how the dress looks without visible arms.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/15233786331" title="Shandiin side by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Shandiin side" height="640" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5588/15233786331_5ee9f740c7_z.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
And also with Egyptian arms. This is a very versatile pattern for where ever on the 'Where Do the Arms Go?' spectrum your child might fall; it suits All the Arms.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/15236514632" title="Shandiin close by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Shandiin close" height="640" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3895/15236514632_f9d29cff96_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
Thanks so much for inviting me, <a href="http://emmyloubeedoo.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Sarah</a>, and for the great series <a href="http://www.francessuzanne.com/2014/09/flip-pattern-fall-2014-september-showcase.html" target="_blank">Frances Suzanne</a>! <br />

<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14495467586" title="Jungle Ave 7 by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Jungle Ave 7" height="800" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3908/14495467586_5e9354d6af_c.jpg" width="534" /></a></div>
<br />
My friend <a href="https://sewsweetness.com/" target="_blank">Sara from Sew Sweetness</a> has just released her first fabric line <a href="http://www.liveartgalleryfabrics.com/jungleAve.html" target="_blank">'Jungle Ave' for Art Gallery Fabrics</a> and it's amazing! It's not <i>quite</i> yet available from shops but I believe it's imminent. There are eight quilting cottons, two knits, and a voile.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWzflK-Df3XiACiL5P60KYLWl3-ee_jgBFx5RO-U5O_bKHFLx0gqikus9lxTIbU9QVj6Qdne7m0LhSOYOJZFCj-EYG9AjjqL25V19egKvStaLu_7lCafCVB7vWahbRxmCdijdykKtfYkLX/s1600/jungle+ave+fabrics.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWzflK-Df3XiACiL5P60KYLWl3-ee_jgBFx5RO-U5O_bKHFLx0gqikus9lxTIbU9QVj6Qdne7m0LhSOYOJZFCj-EYG9AjjqL25V19egKvStaLu_7lCafCVB7vWahbRxmCdijdykKtfYkLX/s1600/jungle+ave+fabrics.png" height="400" width="307" /></a></div>
<br />
Not only was Sara kind enough to send me some of the Elephant Skyline cotton lycra jersey to play around with but she sent me enough to make several things....<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14518564535" title="Jungle Ave 3 by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Jungle Ave 3" height="800" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2915/14518564535_1d0471818d_c.jpg" width="534" /></a></div>
<br />
Two dorks for the price* of one!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14517487432" title="Jungle Ave 4 by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Jungle Ave 4" height="800" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3902/14517487432_c61e246bec_c.jpg" width="534" /></a></div>
<br />
My pics really don't do this fabric justice, not only are there elephants and psychedelic swirls, but there also really amazing doodle-y skyscrapers.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBFarZhzV_Zd_ppQY1aq_X1ZixaE-WxXKiDTdAXiP0Rxs3uP1mlngACrNxfpZdmWdVBhHCzZQ78qAMWanhNaO6HdwPnIeN5KpCsjyWyOQ0-Cx1HD0w6bGMGxj8HONJJp-5rwAoLU3Z-dFF/s1600/Elephant+Skyline.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBFarZhzV_Zd_ppQY1aq_X1ZixaE-WxXKiDTdAXiP0Rxs3uP1mlngACrNxfpZdmWdVBhHCzZQ78qAMWanhNaO6HdwPnIeN5KpCsjyWyOQ0-Cx1HD0w6bGMGxj8HONJJp-5rwAoLU3Z-dFF/s1600/Elephant+Skyline.png" height="400" width="396" /></a></div>
<br />
The colour palette is a fantastic petrol, light blue, turquoise, apple green, light apple green, black and white.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14515304071" title="Jungle Ave 8 by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Jungle Ave 8" height="800" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3836/14515304071_62bd6cdc29_c.jpg" width="534" /></a></div>
<br />
My dress is a pattern I've been working on for awhile. It has a scooped V-neck and fully lined bodice, curvy waistband, and A-line skirt.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14495467446" title="Jungle Ave 6 by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Jungle Ave 6" height="800" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3858/14495467446_1ac95dba13_c.jpg" width="534" /></a></div>
<br />
I drafted a similar but not-too-similar dress for Maia with this fabric in mind. Same V-neck fully lined bodice, but a less exaggerated and more girls' body appropriate waistband. I kinda love it!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14331970279" title="Jungle Ave 5 by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Jungle Ave 5" height="800" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3856/14331970279_712c6d8d73_c.jpg" width="534" /></a></div>
<br />
Particularly the backs! <br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14495467196" title="Jungle Ave 2 by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Jungle Ave 2" height="800" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3860/14495467196_fe312d84e2_c.jpg" width="534" /></a></div>
<br />
The fabric is a delight to sew- it was stable with no curling edges, smooth and soft, and it has <b>excellent</b> drape. A true winner in both design and manufacture! I wish <a href="https://sewsweetness.com/" target="_blank">Sara</a> and Art Gallery fabrics success with <a href="http://www.liveartgalleryfabrics.com/limitededitionCollections.html" target="_blank">all their collections</a> (there are two further collections from Sew Caroline and April Rhodes) and if you want to get your hands on some fabric I suggest you do so as soon as they are released as they're limited edition.<br />
<br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>*Actually, this fabric was sent to me as a gift. Two dorks for free! All opinions my own honest thoughts.</i><br />

<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14287301277" title="Sundress Kitschy Coo Cover by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Sundress Kitschy Coo Cover" height="640" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3886/14287301277_d5fbaa61e0_z.jpg" width="555" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm up today as part of <a href="http://mellysews.com/?p=6415" target="_blank">Melly Sew's 30 Days of Sundresses series</a> with a super cute and versatile braided strap dress. This is my second year participating (last year's is <a href="http://kitschycoo.blogspot.co.uk/2013/06/yoked-knit-sundress.html" target="_blank">here</a>), make sure you check out the rest of the contributions on <a href="http://mellysews.com/?p=6415" target="_blank">Melly's blog</a>!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb3wnrn5h-h5Ap11FE4NgYp2vPsgsjiNx9aAbal6yu8T0s8BQFKIve0mUQc9aj92RjtSesDkQNv2g4qZHniE61QPXxtVMVHVlJevBmtUlTrpVEJ_CKpGMJhuYOeGVKwvmcZc3U8B7M246H/s1600/sundressgraphic+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb3wnrn5h-h5Ap11FE4NgYp2vPsgsjiNx9aAbal6yu8T0s8BQFKIve0mUQc9aj92RjtSesDkQNv2g4qZHniE61QPXxtVMVHVlJevBmtUlTrpVEJ_CKpGMJhuYOeGVKwvmcZc3U8B7M246H/s1600/sundressgraphic+copy.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The sundress has a slight V-neck, a slim a-line shape, and two long braided straps. With various ways to tie the straps and the elasticated back I think Maia will be sporting this dress for several summers. <br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14472433862" title="front 1 by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="front 1" height="640" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5568/14472433862_523fb25762_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm offering the pattern download for this specific size for free <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwKmpd_yDQ6VQ2pwM0dialljcTA/edit?usp=sharing" target="_blank">HERE</a>, it has finished garment measurements of 27" chest circumference, 29" shoulder to hem length and hits my sturdy and tall 7 year old just below the knee so I'd loosely deem it size 7 to 10 years old. If you're wanting a size different than that, it's not that difficult to draft a different size using a well fitting tank top as a starting point. This dress is made out of knits because I am me, but it should work for wovens too (although you should use a knit, ribbons, or something else that won't fray for the braids).<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14477710024" title="printing and piecing by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="printing and piecing" height="320" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3862/14477710024_038e5f0963_n.jpg" width="202" /></a></div>
<br />
The royal blue lines are where you cut and piece to the adjacent pieces. I've nested the Front, Back, Front Facing, and Back Facing so you only have to print 6 pages.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14475540851" title="Braided strap sundress pattern key by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Braided strap sundress pattern key" height="284" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2936/14475540851_9741c8209b.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<br />
All of the cutting instructions are written on the pattern, but in case you can't visualise what I'm talking about regarding how the Back, Front Facing, and Back Facing relate to the Front piece, this diagram should help!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14493883583" title="1 cut pieces by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="1 cut pieces" height="640" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3844/14493883583_2d496239af_z.jpg" width="551" /></a></div>
<br />
Cut your pieces: one front, one back, one front facing, one back facing, two tabs, and six strips for braiding.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14287134440" title="2 braid straps by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="2 braid straps" height="600" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2912/14287134440_3128a411f4_z.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
<br />
Sew or pin the ends of three braid strips together. Start braiding the strips. At the very beginning you should braid loosely so it's more-or-less flat; it'll be easier to attach to the dress if it's not tight and thick. Continue braiding until you get to the end. <br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14470377361" title="3 secure ends by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="3 secure ends" height="600" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2920/14470377361_8de57c0ed6_z.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
<br />
Secure the ends. Repeat for other braid.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14450657446" title="4 sew tabs by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="4 sew tabs" height="600" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3895/14450657446_699b336dcc_z.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
<br />
Right sides facing, fold a tab in half vertically and sew. Repeat for other tab. Turn tabs right side out and press well so the seam is in the centre.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14287164938" title="5 side seams by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="5 side seams" height="640" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2922/14287164938_4b215d501e_z.jpg" width="431" /></a></div>
<br />
Right sides facing, sew the side seams of the front piece to the back piece. Right sides facing, sew the side seams of the front facing to the back facing. <i>Optional: finish the bottom edge of the facing. I didn't because I was using a knit. </i> This is what you should have so far.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14473747415" title="6 pin tabs by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="6 pin tabs" height="600" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5579/14473747415_75a5266aea_z.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
<br />
Fold a tab in half and pin in position on the back of the dress facing down. Baste in place within the seam allowance. Repeat for other tab.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14493882493" title="7 pin strap by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="7 pin strap" height="600" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2931/14493882493_fc62140b35_z.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
<br />
Pin the flat-ish end of a braid to the shoulder making sure it's in the centre and away from the seam allowances. I pull the strap up and over the top edge so I'd still be able to clearly see it after the facing is pinned on top. Baste in place. Repeat for other strap.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14287164878" title="8 pin facing by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="8 pin facing" height="600" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3849/14287164878_96aee38de6_z.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
<br />
Right sides facing, slip the facing over the dress and match the raw edges all the way around. Pin regularly. This is how it will look.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14450658356" title="9 approaching strap by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="9 approaching strap" height="600" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3921/14450658356_2c119038d0_z.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
<br />
Starting at a side seam, start sewing across the back edge, over the side seam, and up around the arm curve. When you get to where the strap is, use your fingers to make sure you are not catching any bit of the braid in the stitch, and sew as close to the strap as you can. Pivot and sew the top edge of the strap, pivot and sew down towards the neckline, again using your fingers to make sure the strap isn't going to be caught. Pivot at the V and repeat the same process for the other side until you get back to where you started.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14287165758" title="9 clip V by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="9 clip V" height="600" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3912/14287165758_bd1f4770ab_z.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
<br />
Clip a notch into the V but don't cut the threads! You can see that I added some stay-stitching within the seam allowance as well to give the V some extra stability.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14473748255" title="10 press facings by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="10 press facings" height="430" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3872/14473748255_a949cc3987_z.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
<br />
Flip the facing towards the inside of the dress and press everything so that it lies flat. I roll the facing slightly towards the interior so it's invisible from the right side.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14287164818" title="11 position elastic by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="11 position elastic" height="600" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5528/14287164818_cb4a484756_z.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
Cut a piece of elastic two inches shorter than the width of the back piece. Flip up the facing and pin one end of the elastic about 1/4" towards the <i>front</i> side of the side seam of the dress. Pin from the right side of the dress and not in-between in the wrong sides between the dress and facing or you could have trouble getting your pin out later!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14493883233" title="12 stitch in the ditch by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="12 stitch in the ditch" height="600" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2895/14493883233_dbf9269898_z.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
<br />
Flip the facing back down and ensure that the two layers still match up on the side seam. From the right side of the dress, stitch in the ditch (on the side seam). This will catch the dress, the facing, and the elastic in between.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14287120309" title="13 stitch in the ditch after by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="13 stitch in the ditch after" height="600" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5193/14287120309_3b267bf18c_z.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
<br />
Repeat the process with the other end of the elastic in the opposite side seam. See how it's nearly invisible!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14472433882" title="14 pin layers for chanel by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="14 pin layers for chanel" height="600" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3850/14472433882_809e83d862_z.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
<br />
Stretch the back of the dress so the elastic and facing are sitting flat and pin the layers together. Make sure the facing is still sitting neatly underneath, and that the elastic is up near the top of the channel away from where the channel stitching might catch it. Starting at one side seam and heading across the back of the dress, sew the bottom edge of the facing to the dress, ending at the opposite side seam. You now have a casing for the elastic. Press and hem the bottom edge of the dress and you're done!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14472433702" title="front 2 by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="front 2" height="800" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3877/14472433702_e0682cc43c_c.jpg" width="534" /></a></div>
<br />
You can tie the braids crossover...<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14287120229" title="cross back by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="cross back" height="800" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3907/14287120229_6e3db557c9_c.jpg" width="534" /></a></div>
<br />
Or over the shoulder and through the tabs...<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14450657826" title="straight back close by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="straight back close" height="427" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2937/14450657826_792833f02c_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
And probably a bunch of other ways as well. <br />

<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14387969196" title="Style that kid Kitschy Coo by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Style that kid Kitschy Coo" height="800" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3924/14387969196_95b6c357e0_c.jpg" width="534" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm really excited to be on the virtual book tour for Alida Makes's new <a href="http://alidamakes.com/style-that-kid-ebook" target="_blank">'Style That Kid!' e-book</a> today. Styling (or lack thereof, haha) is something I really struggle with in my pictures. I've a made a real effort in the last couple of years to up my photography game- everything from a new camera and lens to photography courses and workshops- but although I can say my pictures have improved technically I'm still disappointed a lot of the time with the results. I'd even go so far to say that's one of the reasons my blogging has slowed down as the internet can take only a finite amount of my family standing in our garden being basic.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://alidamakes.com/style-that-kid-ebook" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEium7j2WruiPxhfvr4o_mVf00I5N9kM6H02fIKYfNrOHTLbCZWi2xRS7YbGsgKIF4L15Ki-j_thu4lXlKoNH6Y9sP6UZLUHja9d8ijArJFhMhvjxSuG7ET38ngxiqKaXFMa5YIBrHmu_J7I/s1600/Alida-book-cover-2.jpg" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><a href="http://alidamakes.com/style-that-kid-ebook" target="_blank">Go get it here</a>.</i></div>
<br />
Alida to the rescue! This is a <b>great</b> book that supplements technical photography skills with the more amorphous harder-to-learn (for me, anyway) understanding of how to make your photography more compelling and stylish. She covers everything from the pre-shoot prep stage like choosing locations and props, to all the things you should consider during a shoot like positioning and contrast, and even post-shoot photo editing. So armed with my new insight, I stepped out of my comfort zone to shoot one of the <a href="https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/190239966/shandiin-tank-tunic-pdf-sewing-pattern?ref=shop_home_active_1" target="_blank">Shandiin tanks</a> I made for summer.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14224490808" title="style 8 by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="style 8" height="640" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5472/14224490808_5b33aa6108_z.jpg" width="413" /></a></div>
<br />
Just kidding, still in my comfort zone / garden. This is a picture to illustrate how I would <i>normally</i> take an outfit shot. Straight on, clean outfit lines, conscious to show the pattern and fabric uninterrupted. Nothing terrible, but also not very interesting.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14411097505" title="style 7 by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="style 7" height="640" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3843/14411097505_3c3620f435_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
Same for the back view- standard fare from me.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14224453209" title="style 5 by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="style 5" height="640" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5556/14224453209_54fbecc0af_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
Except! With Alida's section on texture in mind, rather than throw her hair up into a messy ponytail as I would normally I introduced some visual interest and contrasting texture with double braids. I think it better highlights a back as awesome and unique as the <a href="https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/190239966/shandiin-tank-tunic-pdf-sewing-pattern?ref=shop_home_feat_2" target="_blank">Shandiin's</a>.<br />
<br />
Okay- real talk. This is going to sound ridiculous, but making Maia do anything other than stand was hard for me. <br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14409799382" title="style 1 by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="style 1" height="396" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3839/14409799382_1379ecf2ca_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
(Inner monologue) <i>Why would she sit like that in the garden?!</i></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14387969296" title="style 2 by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="style 2" height="640" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3878/14387969296_ba96344c1d_z.jpg" width="395" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>But you can't see the lines of the top!
</i></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14224453349" title="style 3 by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="style 3" height="396" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3876/14224453349_594d5c0268_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>You can't see the outfit at all! </i></div>
<br />
This book really challenged me to think about things differently and opened me up to trying new things. Breaking out of a long-established-and-safe photo routine is a big achievement for me, even if it's baby steps from the outside.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14224498940" title="style 4 by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="style 4" height="640" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2904/14224498940_3db8e204c8_z.jpg" width="395" /></a></div>
<br />
Next up is to try using some props (well, after acquiring said props). It's something I really love when others do but without <a href="http://alidamakes.com/style-that-kid-ebook" target="_blank">the book</a> would've been too scared to try.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14225027297" title="style 6 by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="style 6" height="640" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3895/14225027297_83fd7a75f4_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
A massive thank you to <a href="http://alidamakes.com/" target="_blank">Alida</a> for writing a great book and having me on the tour! <br />

<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14198378986" title="Headband tute by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Headband tute" height="539" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2940/14198378986_9dd22cb858_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Since taking up running again, I've had to battle with how to keep my hair out of my face now that it's too short for a ponytail. Big, fat headbands are the solution! They're tall enough to keep all my hair from blowing forward into my face (and also cover my perennially cold ears), but thin enough to scrunch up under my hair at my neck without being bulky. Have a lot of knits scraps? Have unruly, pesky hair? Have ten minutes? Let's go!<br />
<br />
Fabric requirements: You really need fabric with lycra in it so that it will not only stretch but recover enough to stay on your head firmly. Interlock and 100% cotton jersey are a nope.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14221533915" title="Headband tute by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Headband tute" height="640" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2918/14221533915_57c7a651ef_z.jpg" width="581" /></a></div>
<br />
On the fold, cut your fabric so that it is 24cm wide (48cm unfolded) by 17cm tall.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14221335434" title="Headband tute by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Headband tute" height="640" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2937/14221335434_c53bf0f450_z.jpg" width="358" /></a></div>
<br />
Press the raw edges towards the wrong side by 2cm.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14219169902" title="Headband tute by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Headband tute" height="640" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5072/14219169902_4d6f2ec617_z.jpg" width="571" /></a></div>
<br />
Right sides facing, sew the 17cm tall raw edges together.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14034929660" title="Headband tute by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Headband tute" height="640" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5118/14034929660_bca2d4ce0a_z.jpg" width="438" /></a></div>
<br />
Hem the long edges that you previously pressed in step two. I'm using a coverstitch because I'm lucky enough to have one, but you can also use a twin needle in a regular machine, or <a href="http://kitschycoo.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/dolmaniacs-sew-along-getting-ready-to.html" target="_blank">any other stretch stitch</a> that will stretch without breaking. That's it!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14034924078" title="headband on by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="headband on" height="640" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5543/14034924078_e6f462a3f0_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Optional but not recommended: Have a child steal it.<br />
<br />
<br />Kitschy Coohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14498979148251880818noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5435738925121167166.post-34108070590558838812014-05-15T13:51:00.000+01:002014-05-15T13:51:01.863+01:00Frozen Goes Casual: The Anna Skater<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14191216694" title="Anna birthday dress by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Anna birthday dress" height="640" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7358/14191216694_6539e69558_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
It was the girl's birthday yesterday, can you guess how old she is (clue above)? How times flies / I can't believe it / where's my baby ad infinitum.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14168113816" title="Anna birthday dress by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Anna birthday dress" height="640" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7387/14168113816_c4270d24d9_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
She's been bitten by the ubiquitous Frozen bug so I wanted to make her an Anna dress. She probably would've broken her No Wovens rule for a more accurate replica, but I wanted to make one that wasn't <i>too</i> costumey, and fit in with her everyday play-friendly wardrobe.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14004595619" title="Anna birthday dress by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Anna birthday dress" height="640" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7362/14004595619_8f2a67f62a_z.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
As you can probably tell from the silhouette (and my previous form for hacking my patterns rather than starting from scratch), I used my <a href="http://kitschycoo.bigcartel.com/product/the-skater-dress-sewing-pattern-18m-2t-3t-4t-5y-6y-7y-8y-pdf" target="_blank">skater pattern</a> as a starting point.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14004655477" title="Anna birthday dress by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Anna birthday dress" height="640" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5237/14004655477_84e700f811_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
I raised the neck and then split it so it looks like there's an undershirt with a pinafore over the top- not so, it's a single bodice!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14004595969" title="Anna birthday dress by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Anna birthday dress" height="640" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5497/14004595969_a7885a8af3_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
I found some templates for the bodice design and combined, resketched, and scaled it so it would be a good fit. Then I ironed Heat n' Bond onto different coloured jerseys, cut them out, positioned and ironed them into place, and then stitched them on. Much easier (for me) than stencilling, and provides a nice texture.
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14191216504" title="Anna birthday dress by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Anna birthday dress" height="640" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5311/14191216504_fb037c2621_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
Rather than appliqué the skirt in the same manner, I added a band of fuchsia at the bottom instead of a hem so it ties in with the overall colour scheme and adds a bit of length. The overall effect is 'Come at me, yo'.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14191216094" title="Anna birthday dress by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Anna birthday dress" height="640" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7369/14191216094_db3ba78e82_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm so, so grateful for this little big girl in my life. She so <a href="http://instagram.com/p/n98laGPXOQ/?igref=ogexp" target="_blank">gracious and enthusiastic</a> it's an absolute joy to make her happy.<br />
<br />

<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13911202740" title="red and blue stripe trifecta 2 by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="red and blue stripe trifecta 2" height="640" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2902/13911202740_90445e8375_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
Despite my best intentions, I normally miss the boat when it comes to participating in sewing series but due to the confluence of <a href="http://imaginegnats.com/selfish-sewing-week" target="_blank">Selfish Sewing Week</a>, <a href="http://www.made-by-rae.com/category/spring-top-sewalong-2014/" target="_blank">Spring Top week</a>, <a href="http://sozowhatdoyouknow.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/me-made-may14-sign-up-here.html" target="_blank">Me-Made-May</a> and Need Moar Long Sleeves Year I've got a make that fits all four! Step forward low scoop <a href="http://kitschycoo.bigcartel.com/product/the-trifecta-top-sewing-pattern-for-teens-and-women" target="_blank">Trifecta Top</a> in XL stripes.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/14094700242" title="red blue stripe trifecta side by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="red blue stripe trifecta side" height="640" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5325/14094700242_fb2bea30ac_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
These stripes are the best because I have both red and royal blue jeans to match, but I find <i>sewing</i> stripes more laborious for trying to get them to match over the side seam. I think I've cracked it, though: rather than matching them up perfectly when you run them under the serger, shift it so the stripe on the top falls a teensy bit below the stripe on the bottom. The feed dogs will push the bottom layer forward while running it under the foot and suddenly they're aligned! Caveat lector: this is true with my machine, perhaps not others. So focussed was I on matching the stripes that I completely dropped the ball on the neckline! That tiny bit of blue on the left side drove me demented and I <b>could not </b>leave it as such. A seam rip and fix the next day and all is well in the world again.<br />

I'm not getting very many 'proper' photo shots of my Me-Made outfits recently- I even made a dress for a wedding last weekend without getting pictures. Sad! Steven really hates <strike> being the recipient of this face </strike> taking my picture.<br />

<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13885559492" title="Calling All Kids by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Calling All Kids" height="640" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7101/13885559492_7c02150f31_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm really, <i>super</i> excited to be posting for <a href="http://alidamakes.com/" target="_blank">Alida Makes</a>'s <a href="http://alidamakes.com/2014/03/callingallkidsseries.html" target="_blank">Calling All Kids Series</a> today! This is a series about breaking down stereotypes about 'what girls like' and 'what boys like' and instead celebrates kids' individual likes and unisex design.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13909094444" title="Calling All Kids by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Calling All Kids" height="640" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3776/13909094444_d7ec243ab4_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
The 'gendering' of childhood is a subject very close to my heart and actually one of the reasons I started this business. I'm so tired of (and angry about!) the marketing of toys, books, fashions, etc on a gender divide. At its most explicit we get divisions in shops or the labelling of toys and books with 'For Boys' and 'For Girls', but more pervasive are the assumptions made about kids based on their gender. That all girls like pink, or princesses, or makeup, or domestic play based on cleaning one's house; that all boys like blue, or sports, or dinosaurs and diggers, or messy play (they're just noise with dirt, amirite?!) or aggression based play. Insidious messages that tie identity to gender and provide a nebulous framework of the 'right' and 'wrong' ways to be girls or boys damage both genders.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13908675755" title="Calling All Kids by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Calling All Kids" height="640" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2893/13908675755_1f410c8c98_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
I admit that I've found (and find) this a really hard part of being a mother to a daughter, particularly a daughter that identifies with more 'girly' interests than I ever have. I was considered a 'tomboy' growing up, and had little interest in dolls or princess narratives- instead I was heavily involved in various sports and preferred construction-based play like building forts in the woods or obstacle courses in the garden. I'm not going to shame or discourage her (you like what you like!) for wanting to play princesses, or bedazzling jewellery boxes, or the million apps about applying makeup that she always wants but I <i>am</i> going to call her out for linking it to her gender.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13909094924" title="Calling All Kids by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Calling All Kids" height="640" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2867/13909094924_c3b642f70c_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
Even as a toddler Maia would verbalise <b>so many</b> 'boys are' / 'girls are' tropes and gender stereotypes that I found it a mixture of terrifying and hilarious in a funny-not-funny way. I joked to a friend once that I should've named her Patriarchy for all the things she said: from girls don't like science, to boys are better at sports, to telling me I should always wear makeup because I looked prettier with it. Those millions of tiny messages are getting through, and at a younger age than I expected.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13885566946" title="Calling All Kids by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Calling All Kids" height="640" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7411/13885566946_7f3fa552fd_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
It's intense, and it's ongoing, but we've come a long way. One of my proudest mum-moments was when she and a friend were looking at magazines and the friend said, 'This is a magazine for girls' and Maia said, 'That's a magazine for people who like princesses'.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13908676605" title="Calling All Kids by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Calling All Kids" height="640" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7201/13908676605_3e495eda28_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
I've spoken about this many a time before, but <i>my</i> mum is an all-around bad*ss and inspiration. She sews, she's an amazing knitter, she makes glorious stained-glass, she does woodwork, makes furniture- you name it, she can do it. She officially retired this year, so <b>obviously</b> she's relaxing and enjoying her down-time by building a second house in their upper lot. Her mum / my grandma was also a bad*ss and Maker of All Things (her furniture making in particular was amazing), and could often be found hauling around huge rocks and building stone walls until she was almost 80. One of my favourite memories of her was when I was enlisted as a teenager to help her stack a huge pile of wood that had been delivered and despite being in her seventies and all of 4'10" she was OMG SO COMPETITIVE about being faster than me. A couple of years ago me and my mum were chopping a tree down for Christmas, lying on our stomachs in the snow with a crosscut saw, and she said her mum would be smiling down on us. Women doing it our own bad selves. <br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13908738633" title="Calling All Kids by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Calling All Kids" height="640" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3814/13908738633_2874a893e7_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
So we sat down last weekend and I told Maia about the Calling All Kids series and showed her some of the projects that people had made for it. We got a notebook out and made a big list of all the things she'd heard about the differences between boys and girls. She helped pick out the fabrics, and we brainstormed about what kind of outfit would break down bias and appeal universally. Blue and green- check, star print- check, sporty- check.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13908738543" title="Calling All Kids by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Calling All Kids" height="640" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2841/13908738543_fea478473d_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
The top is a unisex Dolman tee shirt with shoulder princess seams and contrasting striped side panels.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13908675515" title="Calling All Kids by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Calling All Kids" height="640" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3733/13908675515_8ac44bd5b5_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
The shorts have a yoga waistband for comfort and allow a lot of freedom for movement. I also made some knee socks (which I should've made a couple inches taller in hindsight because the stripes don't have much vertical stretch). An outfit for movement and action, not a outfit for adornment. Phew, a bit of a novel for a quite simple outfit!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13885566746" title="Calling All Kids by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Calling All Kids" height="640" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2929/13885566746_f571397b2c_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
The tl;dr version: gender is not identity. Maia might like a tonne of things society <i>associates</i> with female-ness (and that's okay) but she should never be <b>limited or defined</b> by it. For every dress or skirt that I make her, for every princess-print I might use, I'll make her a dozen of these more gender-neutral pieces. Be strong, be confident, be without limits. <br />
<br />

<br />
Understatement of the year, but I'm crazy for Kat from <a href="http://www.sewchibi.com/" target="_blank">Sew Chibi</a>. Not only is she super-talented with one of the most innovative sewing styles around (<a href="http://www.sewchibi.com/2013/07/sephiras-2nd-birthday-dress-behind-seams.html" target="_blank">sewing with liquid and candy</a>! <a href="http://www.sewchibi.com/2014/01/seasonal-sewing-series-hikari-light.html" target="_blank">sewing with lights</a>! <a href="http://www.sewchibi.com/2013/04/translucent-neon-wands-meets-sew-chibi.html" target="_blank">sewing paintings of her dad's</a>!) but she's also one the hands-down sweetest people and someone I'm massively lucky to count as a friend. One month ago, she welcomed her third daughter, Akira, into her gorgeous family and we're having a virtual baby shower today to celebrate.
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13894177794" title="Krazy for Kat top 1 by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Krazy for Kat top 1" height="640" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7208/13894177794_86fc9f0827_z.jpg" width="427" /></a> </div>
<br />
I had a really hard time figuring out what to make someone who sets the bar so high. I knew I couldn't compete with her imagination or daring, and I am but a medium geek to her uber-geek. But I <i>could</i> make a tribute to her in colour! Kat loves riotous colours as much as I do, so I made the mini-est of Mini Pennys with a harlequin stripe for the from and back middle panels. I turned the stripes vertically for the the neck and sleeve bands, and omitted the hem for vertical stripe band instead.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<a href="http://www.sewchibi.com/2014/02/shades-of-me-blog-tour-mommie-and-me.html" target="_blank">From Sew Chibi Shades of Me</a></div>
<br />
The turquoise I used for the side panels and sleeves I chose because it's a close colour-match to my all time favourite of her hair colours! <b> So pretty.</b><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13894178374" title="Krazy for Kat bloomers by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Krazy for Kat bloomers" height="427" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3676/13894178374_4ab7d25776_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
And lest the little lady need some coverage for her lower half, I also made some coordinating bloomers by shortening my slouchy bottoms pattern and adding big cuffs. It's been the longest time since I've sewn anything quite so small.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13894178204" title="Krazy for Kat set by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Krazy for Kat set" height="640" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3670/13894178204_6c196193ed_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
That is some next level Rainbow Brite right there. I hope you like it, Kat, and much love!<br />

<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13816268343" title="KCW: Pony Bloom dress by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="KCW: Pony Bloom dress" height="640" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7116/13816268343_001bf300db_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
A second make for <a href="http://www.kidsclothesweek.com/" target="_blank">Kids Clothes Week</a> complete! For this I used the incredible <a href="http://kitschycoo.bigcartel.com/product/pony-bloom-organic-cotton-jersey-by-the-half-metre" target="_blank">Pony Bloom</a> fabric.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13816568144" title="KCW: Pony Bloom dress by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="KCW: Pony Bloom dress" height="640" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7169/13816568144_48e8e5a66d_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
It's quite a large scale print that I didn't want to break up, so I decided to omit as many seams as possible.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13816565664" title="KCW: Pony Bloom dress by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="KCW: Pony Bloom dress" height="640" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2925/13816565664_14b00023d5_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
I combined my basic a-line dress block with my Dolman Top pattern so there wouldn't even be sleeve seams. Just side and shoulder seams and as much uninterrupted ponies as possible!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13816567544" title="KCW: Pony Bloom dress by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="KCW: Pony Bloom dress" height="640" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7155/13816567544_343422f5a2_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
For a little bit of visual interest, instead of a normal scoop neck I switched it out for a V-neck. <br />

</div>
<br />
Would you believe, blogging *and* sewing just for the fun of it? Maia is in desperate (theoretical) need of new Spring and Summer clothes, and with this season's <a href="http://www.kidsclothesweek.com/" target="_blank">Kids Clothes Week</a> happening at this very moment I thought I'd seize the opportunity to fill some gaps in her wardrobe.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13783442035" title="Kids Clothes Week outfit 1 by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Kids Clothes Week outfit 1" height="640" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7415/13783442035_d2254cbc92_z.jpg" width="427" /></a>
</div>
<br />
The top is a turquoise and orange organic cotton knit from my shop, using my Dolman Top pattern. I used the stripes horizontally for the body, but as it's a four way stretch I flipped it vertically for the neckband.
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13783781584" title="Kids Clothes Week outfit 1 by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Kids Clothes Week outfit 1" height="640" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7154/13783781584_661ce2e28c_z.jpg" width="427" /></a>
</div>
<br />
The skirt is my free Tennis Skirt pattern in the coordinating Happy Whales. This is the only skirt that fits her at the moment, when I said 'gaps in her wardrobe' I wasn't kidding.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13783440805" title="Kids Clothes Week outfit 1 by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Kids Clothes Week outfit 1" height="640" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7315/13783440805_34e2678446_z.jpg" width="427" /></a>
</div>
<br />
The leggings are store bought but, fortuitously, a perfect match for the charcoal whales.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13783780234" title="Kids Clothes Week outfit 1 by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Kids Clothes Week outfit 1" height="640" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3834/13783780234_a2f6316af0_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
The shoes match nothing.<br />
<br />

<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13423341333" title="SLAA Kitschy Coo by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="SLAA Kitschy Coo" height="640" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5119/13423341333_3cd57a87d0_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm participating in a really fun series today from <a href="http://ifonlytheywouldnap.net/" target="_blank">If Only They Would Nap</a>. It's called <a href="http://ifonlytheywouldnap.net/tag/straight-lines-and-angles-series/" target="_blank">'Straight Lines and Angles'</a> and the challenge is based on geometric-inspired design. <br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13423582854" title="SLAA close by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="SLAA close" height="640" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7443/13423582854_b152fe6805_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
As soon as Jess asked me I signed up right away because having fun with shapes and lines is right up my alley. <br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13423219455" title="SLAA jump by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="SLAA jump" height="640" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2814/13423219455_35b1de0970_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
I started off with a basic a-line block, and slashed it back and forth diagonally (as well as vertically down centre front) to create panels. In the smaller pennant-shaped panels I sewed in plain rainbow colours in descending order and in the larger polygons I sewed in stripes. Right side polygons are horizontal and left side are vertical.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13423220755" title="SLAA close 2 by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="SLAA close 2" height="640" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7395/13423220755_9a10d8bb1a_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
I wanted the panoply of intersecting seams to be as comfortable as possible to wear so there is a tonne of topstitching framing each piece. <b>So many thread changes.</b><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13423343783" title="SLAA back 2 by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="SLAA back 2" height="640" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5226/13423343783_b52232decb_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></b></div>
<br />
The back was given a centre seam and I cut the stripes on the diagonal and mismatched it across the seam for visual interest.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13423580874" title="SLAA side by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="SLAA side" height="640" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3685/13423580874_c9ac880c77_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
And also because I had zero interest in trying to stripe match across the side seams, haha.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13423584194" title="SLAA bands 2 by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="SLAA bands 2" height="640" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3830/13423584194_033a53c9bb_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
Arm and neckbands were cut to emphasise the stripes and frame the whole thing. In hindsight, I think I should've made the left sleeve striped to coordinate with the stripes on that side of the bodice.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13423585184" title="Oh Maia by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="Oh Maia" height="640" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3769/13423585184_a867a06a42_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
Playful, colourful, and a little bit crazy. Being partial to a bit of crazy, Maia loves it too. <br />

<br />
You've probably seen people blogging about the inaugural <a href="https://patternparcel.com/" target="_blank">Perfect Pattern Parcel</a> everywhere over the last ten days! The brainchild of Rachael from <a href="http://imaginegnats.com/" target="_blank">Imagine Gnats</a>, Jill from <a href="http://thatmoxiegirl.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Made with Moxie</a> (as well as her techie husband Danny), Pattern Parcel collects together patterns from Independent Designers and makes them <a href="https://patternparcel.com/" target="_blank">available as a bundle</a> for two weeks only. <br />

Not only does PPP aim to support indie designers, but a portion of the proceeds also goes to the charity <a href="http://www.donorschoose.org/" style="background-color: white; color: #7f7f7f; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px; text-decoration: none;">Donors Choose</a>, an amazing organization that matches up the needs of teachers and their students for specific projects with willing donors. The funds raised from each Pattern Parcel sale will go to help K-12 students in minimizing educational inequality and encourage a community where children have the tools and experiences necessary for an excellent education. Not only does the buyer get to choose their own price for the bundle, but they also get to choose <i>how</i> that price is proportioned between designers / organisers / charity. Neato, right?<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13266408814/" title="Ava / Lady Skater mashup by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="Ava / Lady Skater mashup" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7388/13266408814_8f284f4932_z.jpg" height="640" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
I had such a hard time choosing which pattern to make! Obviously I wanted to use knits (because I am nothing if not predictable) and although the Ava Dress / Top from <a href="http://www.victorypatterns.com/" target="_blank">Victory Patterns</a> is supposed to be for wovens after I saw <a href="http://www.crafterhoursblog.com/2014/03/ava-dress-part-perfect-pattern-parcel.html" target="_blank">Adriana Crafterhours's knit Ava</a> I knew I must do it. <br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13266066555/" title="Ava / Lady Skater mashup by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="Ava / Lady Skater mashup" src="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2810/13266066555_e26d2f6212_z.jpg" height="640" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
And I must do it ridiculously. Achievement unlocked.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13266068265/" title="Ava / Lady Skater mashup by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="Ava / Lady Skater mashup" src="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2840/13266068265_c9ef14ed00_z.jpg" height="640" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
So, a laundry list of the changes I made to the Ava to start. Based on my measurements and finished garment measurements I started with a straight size 8. I reduced the seam allowances from 5/8" to 3/8" because you couldn't pay me to use 5/8"s with knits. After a first fitting, I removed an additional 1/2" to the shoulder height because of my petite upper body, increased the under bust darts by half an inch each, and removed 2" from each side seam in width at the bust tapering to nothing at the bottom edge.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13266410964/" title="Ava / Lady Skater mashup by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="Ava / Lady Skater mashup" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3788/13266410964_8a48bec4ef_z.jpg" height="640" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
I added a 3" waist band as I wanted it to hit less at empire height, and more at my natural waist. To compensate for the extra travelling distance over the bust, I had to make a sway back adjustment to the back bodice of about an inch before attaching the waistband. It still hangs a little bit lower to the back.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13266065445/" title="Ava / Lady Skater mashup by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="Ava / Lady Skater mashup" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7058/13266065445_ef13232c78_z.jpg" height="640" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
The original plan was to leave it sleeveless (as one of the pattern options) but all of my bras come up so very high under the arm that sleeveless garments are generally problematic and more hassle than they're worth to perfect. So I also drafted sleeves, and banded them with yellow. The neckline I dropped by 1.5" at centre front, and banded as well.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13266066555/" title="Ava / Lady Skater mashup by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="Ava / Lady Skater mashup" src="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2810/13266066555_e26d2f6212_z.jpg" height="640" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
The Ava skirt is a similar shape to the Lady Skater skirt but it is panelled and I literally had a half a metre left of the blue stars. So I used the Lady Skater skirt instead and narrowed the sweep until I could fit it in my tiny fabric piece. I'm happy with the less full skirt as it makes it more casual and less costume-y.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13266065915/" title="Wonder Woman shoes by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="Wonder Woman shoes" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3671/13266065915_bb0b168976_z.jpg" height="426" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The real stars of this photoshoot (if really there is such a thing*) are of course my shoes! If I wore my <a href="http://kitschycoo.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/the-amazing-ridiculous-wonder-woman.html" target="_blank">Wonder Woman bathing suit</a> <i>and</i> this dress <i>and</i> my shoes, that'd be three full layers of dorkery.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13266408354/" title="Ava / Lady Skater mashup by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="Ava / Lady Skater mashup" src="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2847/13266408354_8ce43a42bb_z.jpg" height="640" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
For all the people who've been making fun of my interchangeable facial expressions, this is why. I'm not angry, this is just my face.<br />
<br />
<b>So if you haven't already, head over to <a href="https://patternparcel.com/" target="_blank">Perfect Pattern Parcel</a> to get your bundle! It's only available til Friday night (21 March).</b><br />
<br />
<i><span style="font-size: x-small;">*This is my first time using my tripod and remote outside. The only thing more embarrassing than taking pictures of yourself in a Wonder Woman dress in your shared garden is taking pictures of yourself in your overcoat in a field overlooked by the entire estate before taking your tripod and camera home in a huff because you couldn't get it to focus.</span></i><br />

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13106594134/" title="Trifecta Top line drawings by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="Trifecta Top line drawings" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7381/13106594134_752f9f78f0_z.jpg" height="640" width="489" /></a></div>
<br />
At very long last, <a href="http://kitschycoo.bigcartel.com/product/the-trifecta-top-sewing-pattern-for-teens-and-women" target="_blank">the Trifecta Top</a> is now available! Named thusly because of the three neckline heights, three sleeve lengths, and three optional extras. From the official description:<br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<span style="background-color: white; color: #474747; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 16px;">The Trifecta Top is a versatile wardrobe builder with loads of customisation options! There are three necklines (high scoop, low scoop, and scooped V-neck), three sleeve lengths with hem or band finishes (cap with hem or band, elbow length hem or band, long sleeve hem or band), and two shirt lengths (a hit-at-the-hip hem length and a marginally longer waistband length). Fitted through the bust, there is gentle side seam shaping through the high waist before skimming through the hips. Scrap hoarders will be delighted that there are also options for a tiny pocket, contrasting shoulder insets, and a centred triangle inset to showcase those small scraps you can’t bear to part with. With easy to sew raglan sleeves this top is a perfect introduction to sewing for yourself and testing the sewing-with-knits waters; a super fast sew and straightforward to fit. More experienced sewers will enjoy the myriad customisation options and more challenging insets and V-neck. Colour-block the sleeves and body for a sporty baseball style, utilise the inset neckline triangle for a retro sweatshirt look, or throw something fancy into the shoulder insets for dress up occasions! There are eight sizes included in the pattern, ranging from a 30” to 44” high bust, and a 24” to 38” high waist.</span></blockquote>
Here is but a <i>few</i> of the ones I've made through the testing process...<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13106373583/" title="Amanda Trifecta Collage by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="Amanda Trifecta Collage" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3701/13106373583_b4fef1f834_z.jpg" height="640" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Not pictured: Another six</div>
<br />
One of these things is not like the other, amirite? Remember that time on Facebook I said using my new tripod and remote to take pictures inside would be a game-changer? Unless that game is called Grainy Pics, it hasn't changed at all. Lucky for me my friend Clare was free to take some pictures in the garden this morning.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/13106540294/" title="TrifectaTester Collage by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="TrifectaTester Collage" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3829/13106540294_6d21767012_z.jpg" height="385" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Speaking of pics, how about them testers?! As per usual, best in the world. Additional mega-props to Susan from <a href="http://www.crafterhoursblog.com/" target="_blank">Crafterhours</a> for her nifty digitisation and general awesomeness.<br />
<br />
So without further ado, you can get <a href="http://kitschycoo.bigcartel.com/product/the-trifecta-top-sewing-pattern-for-teens-and-women" target="_blank">The Trifecta Top</a> here! From now until Sunday at midnight you can save 20% on two or more patterns using TRIFECTA at checkout. I've just changed the listing for the Reversible Zippy Hoodie to include all sizes from 18m to 8y as well.<br />

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/12987341574/" title="SFSJ COVER PIC by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="SFSJ COVER PIC" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7448/12987341574_890720f833_z.jpg" height="640" width="598" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm really excited to partake in <a href="http://www.titchythreads.com/patterns" target="_blank">Titchy Thread</a>'s <a href="http://www.craftstorming.com/tag/small-fry-skinny-jeans" target="_blank">Small Fry Skinny Jeans Tour</a> today! Laura is a pattern <b>maestro;</b> jeans are nothing to sniff at and this pattern is not only impeccably drafted but also comprehensively explained. The finishing cuts no corners and the result is <strike>identical</strike> better to the best store-bought jeans.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/12986934965/" title="SFSJ interior by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="SFSJ interior" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7341/12986934965_9c926a362b_z.jpg" height="640" width="556" /></a></div>
<br />
Check out that gorgeous interior! <b>So neat</b><i>.</i> This was only my second fly and it went together beautifully. Although the pattern is challenging, Laura walks you through everything in a very accessible way. I learned lots of things, from how to flat fell seams (a first time for me) to using topstitching thread (also first time), to how it's possible to burn your hand by putting it <i>under</i> the ironing board while pressing the bejesus out of your pockets.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/12987365234/" title="pocket detail SFSJ by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="pocket detail SFSJ" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7434/12987365234_14bb0be7df_z.jpg" height="640" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
Let's talk about those pockets! I thought it would be fun to give them a Minecraft Creeper vibe using different squares of green. I attempted Lino stamping for the first time but it came out a bit patchy and uneven so I ended up painting over the squares.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/12987364954/" title="SFSJ fly by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="SFSJ fly" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3371/12987364954_e92e8bd674_z.jpg" height="427" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The topstitching thread I used was a light fluoro green to tie in with the green from the pockets. I even bought a proper jeans button to smash with a hammer (therapeutic with the week I've had).<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/12987341534/" title="SFSJ side by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="SFSJ side" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7428/12987341534_69be5a5462_z.jpg" height="640" width="437" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm in love with all the professional details.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/12987532364/" title="SFSJ full outfit by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="SFSJ full outfit" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3175/12987532364_74405b5759_z.jpg" height="640" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
Neither of my kids will normally countenance wearing woven trousers so I salute Laura for drafting jeans that passed the rigorous comfort / wearability test. I made a straight 8 with no mods for this beanpole, and the fit is perfect.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.craftstorming.com/tag/small-fry-skinny-jeans" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNLusU0q1_uNmM_ir8mv6PDuPWxpPzXTuvWigwPfqDxoSYW7JFic29xTxRQtQPBlUILzxAGf5F8eWwPpT5kv9OreZhEQcA1bhW87lJtR7zClgY27ZMhV7N6sUpX9u1Mgbmcpf1UlncF9N-/s1600/SFSJTourButton.png" /></a></div>
<br />
There are so many awesome jeans being posted <a href="http://www.craftstorming.com/tag/small-fry-skinny-jeans" target="_blank">in the tour</a>. There's a fun series going on right now organised by <a href="http://www.welcometothemousehouse.com/" target="_blank">Welcome To The Mouse House</a> and <a href="http://www.petitapetitandfamily.com/" target="_blank">Petit a Petit and Family</a> encouraging people to sew for themselves. The twist? A rainbow spectrum of colours to build your outfit around! Everyone is welcome to sew-along, there are linky parties on <a href="http://www.welcometothemousehouse.com/2014/02/link-up-your-shades-of-me-projects.html" target="_blank">Hayley's</a> and <a href="http://www.petitapetitandfamily.com/2014/02/they-call-me-mellow-yellow-shades-of-me.html" target="_blank">Celina's</a> blogs as well as a Flickr <a href="http://www.flickr.com/groups/2462129@N20/" target="_blank">Shades of Me pool</a>, and a HUGE giveaway to boot. The series kicked off with yellow, followed swiftly by orange and white, but there's a veritable rainbow still outstanding.<br />

<br />
Each day, there are three bloggers building an outfit around a single colour. In 'well duh' news, I had blue.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/12339995975/" title="shades of me close by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="shades of me close" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7339/12339995975_2f0ee8368c_z.jpg" height="640" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
I wasn't sure when I started planning how much license we had to deviate from our pallet so I pulled out the fabric that was the most Blue and Blue and Blue All Over, this swirly stretch cord from ye olde stash.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/12340437634/" title="Shades of Me waistband by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="Shades of Me waistband" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7429/12340437634_6db41251fe_z.jpg" height="640" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
See? <b>All the blues.</b> With some monochrome black, grey and white for good measure.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/12339995845/" title="Shades of Me back by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="Shades of Me back" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3666/12339995845_da05f64436_z.jpg" height="640" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
I drafted up some skinny fit trousers, and admittedly some might think I look crazypants in my crazy pants but I love patterned trousers and no one can stop me.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/12340437644/" title="Shades of Me Full 2 by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="Shades of Me Full 2" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5497/12340437644_47fe63de1f_z.jpg" height="640" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
I was all set to cut into some plain petrol jersey for a coordinating tunic when I remembered that I had, in fact, made a petrol blue Renfrew a couple of years ago that was a perfect colour match. There are compelling reasons to have two (or more!) petrol blue tops as it's my favourite colour, but probably not compelling reasons to have two <i>basic</i> petrol tops without any adornments. With busy trousers, the neutral Renfrew won out.<br />

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/12084193616/" title="Kapynen Collage by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="Kapynen Collage" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3815/12084193616_8c5bedb8bf_z.jpg" height="640" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Words cannot describe how happy I am to add another supplier to <a href="http://kitschycoo.bigcartel.com/" target="_blank">my shop</a>! Käpynen are a Finnish company supplying great prints on cotton / elastane jersey, but also on really amazing sweatshirting. <b>Patterned sweatshirting, how I love thee</b>. The two colour ways of Diamonds and the Sugar Skulls are all 150cm width 95% cotton / 5% elastane sweatshirt blends, so there is good stretch recovery, and they have a soft looped backing. Nice and sturdy, but not at all bulky. The Sock N' Roll (which is undoubtably one of the best named fabrics ever), is a 95% cotton / 5% elastane jersey in a massive 170cm width. There are striped, dotty, starry, and heart-print socks arrayed in a non-directional fashion so you can flip your patterns pieces up and down. The sweatshirting is the same!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/12084193506/" title="Lillestoff Collage 21.1.14 by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="Lillestoff Collage 21.1.14" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3726/12084193506_7efddab626_z.jpg" height="640" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Also crossing the threshold yesterday was a massive box from Lillestoff. It included a lot of restocks, including <a href="http://kitschycoo.bigcartel.com/product/bunny-good-night-organic-cotton-jersey-by-the-half-metre" target="_blank">Bunny Good Night</a> (which sold out in record time so I quickly put in another order before it's gone entirely), Missing Duck, Vichy, and the ever-popular plain petrol jersey. The Jeans Jersey that has sold out three times in blue has now been replaced with Jeans Jersey in black. It's not an overall black because the ribbed texture softens the colour, and the backing is the same brushed texture that makes it omg-so-soft. I've also added two skinny stripes (petrol / aqua and blue / raspberry) that measure 1/2cm tall. And, and, AND. Two more prints! Hippie Day is designed by Sari Ahokainen of Bunny Good Night and Rainbowphant fame, and <span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 16px;">has camper vans, hearts, flowers, peace signs, rainbows, butterflies, and hearts in retro technicolour.</span><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 16px;"> </span></span> Maritime Dots is a seaside print with seagulls (some wearing crowns because obviously), anchors, and an array of multi-coloured dots. The colours are just really, really lovely and I think it's be excellent for some grown up clothes.<br />
<br />
January is proving very busy. On top of the perpetual revolving door of fabric coming in and going out, I got my first Mac which I'm struggling to get to grips with. Googling how to do even the most basic things is almost a full time job and to add to that I'm <i>also</i> trying to learn Illustrator before my free trial runs out and I have to decide whether to pay Adobe mega bucks in perpetuity until I die. Over the next month I'm participating in fun series and a pattern tour and of course I also have both year-end taxes and VAT returns due because procrastination and avoidance are irresistible. Once my commitments to others and the HMRC have settled down, I hope to have an official sew-along for the <a href="http://kitschycoo.bigcartel.com/product/the-penny-pinafore-sewing-pattern-for-teens-and-women" target="_blank">Penny Pinafore</a> which will cover the construction in greater depth, lots of fabric and fitting advice, and some ideas to play with the pattern. And here's a sneaky peak of a pattern I'm working on...<br />

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/11877502394/" title="Lillestoff Collage 10.1.14 by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="Lillestoff Collage 10.1.14" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5527/11877502394_be339400f7_c.jpg" height="800" width="596" /></a></div>
<br />
The first box of fabric of 2014 arrived today and it's a doozy! We've got from left to right, top to bottom: Bunny Good Night, Wonderfly, Inuit, Inuit Whale, and Frau Holle Dotties*. So desperate was I to get my hands on Bunny Good Night that I took my laptop down to the library after hours to sit in the car in the dark and freezing cold to use their wifi to submit my order. I REGRET NOTHING. It's by the designer of the most popular fabric in the world- Rainbowphant- and despite putting in a larger order than usual, I think it'll go pretty fast. Because I'm using it all for me. Wonderfly is a large scale retro-style butterfly that would be particularly good for the ladeez, Inuit and Inuit Whales are too adorable by at least half, and Frau Holle Dotties is a great blender as well as being pretty badass on its own. All of them are uploaded to <a href="http://kitschycoo.bigcartel.com/" target="_blank">the shop</a>!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/11877354773/" title="sale collage 10.1.14 by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="sale collage 10.1.14" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5500/11877354773_793f07b6de_z.jpg" height="640" width="632" /></a></div>
<br />
It's definitely 2014 now despite the fact I'll write 2013 in all correspondence for at least nine more months and with a new year, we all say 'out with the old, in with the new', amirite? So I've discounted (by at least 30%!) twenty of my older fabrics in the <a href="http://kitschycoo.bigcartel.com/category/sale" target="_blank">sale section</a> to make some room in the fabric vault. Three new suppliers are on deck and I need the space.<br />
<br />
Be back soon with a looking back / looking forward post!<br />
<br />
<i>*Germans- What does Frau Holle Dots mean?! Google translate makes it 'hollering woman' without the umlaut and 'Hell Woman' with. Surely, surely not. </i><br />

<br />
I'm bringing <a href="http://www.scatteredthoughtsofacraftymom.com/search/label/holiday%20sewing%20blog%20tour" target="_blank">Scattered Thoughts of a Crafty Mom's Holiday Sewing Series</a> to a close today with a super speedy tutorial:
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/11462743346/" title="simple leather ornaments covers by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="simple leather ornaments covers" height="640" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3774/11462743346_b3e6691c1c_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
I know, right? So easy I actually feel pretty guilty about posting it but but BUT I did some googling when I had the idea and surprisingly there wasn't anything too similar. The tree and stars are complete no-sew, but the baubles require a <i>tiny </i>bit of sewing (although you could omit the detail and just use the outline). You can download the templates for the three shapes <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwKmpd_yDQ6VM3dZd29MelhtUzQ/edit?usp=sharing" target="_blank">here</a>, but there are a tonne of Christmas clip art templates if you want to add more shapes... Reindeer? Stockings? Snowflakes? Candy canes? Leather ornament all the things!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/11462792813/" title="1 leather ornaments trace shapes by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="1 leather ornaments trace shapes" height="500" src="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2846/11462792813_51fceb07d9_z.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<br />
Cut out your shapes and trace them on your leather. Using sharp scissors, carefully cut around the outlines. If you're going to sew the zigzag detail on the baubles, cut the zigzag from a second colour. Use a glue stick to position the zigzag on the bauble.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/11462631275/" title="2 leather ornament sew bauble by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="2 leather ornament sew bauble" height="500" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7452/11462631275_88204605ef_z.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<br />
After the glue is dry, put a heavy duty needle in your machine (specific leather needles are best but general heavy duty needles are fine too). To stop the leather from waving / distorting, I use a slightly longer stitch length of 2.8. Start sewing close to the edge, stopping at the corners and with the needle in the down position, and pivoting to continue sewing around all the edges until you get back to where you started.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/11462631065/" title="3 leather ornaments makes holes by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="3 leather ornaments makes holes" height="500" src="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2837/11462631065_078bd91c38_z.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<br />
Use an awl or craft knife to make a hole at the top for hanging. If you have the hardware, grommets would be pretty nifty too.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/11462747546/" title="4 leather ornaments hang up by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="4 leather ornaments hang up" height="500" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7343/11462747546_35edf0047a_z.jpg" width="500" /></a> </div>
<br />
I used leather cording with a simple knot at the top for hanging.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/11462747286/" title="5 leather ornaments all hung by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="5 leather ornaments all hung" height="500" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7406/11462747286_bd04864497_z.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<br />
And that's it! They took me fourteen times longer to photograph than make and our tree looks (marginally) more classy so that's a result by all accounts. <br />

There will be a linky party on <a href="http://www.scatteredthoughtsofacraftymom.com/" target="_blank">Scattered Thoughts of a Crafty Mom</a> tomorrow for everyone to link up their recent holiday sewing, and there's a even <a href="http://www.scatteredthoughtsofacraftymom.com/2013/12/Holiday-sewing-tour-1034d-serger-giveaway.html" target="_blank">a giveaway for a Brother 1034d serger</a> closing tomorrow!<br />

<br />
You've maybe already seen the announcement on other social media outlets that <i>weren't</i> being jerks last night but let's smack it down here for posterity's sake too. Please, Blogger? The Mini Penny is also finished and available in <a href="http://kitschycoo.bigcartel.com/product/the-mini-penny-pinafore-sewing-pattern-6m-to-10y" target="_blank">my shop</a>! Let me show you two that I made eons ago and never blogged...<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/11433552845/" title="Short Sleeve Mini Penny by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="Short Sleeve Mini Penny" height="640" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3754/11433552845_3bcc25eb5f_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
I needed to make a short sleeve one for photographic proof that short sleeves were a possibilty so it was lucky that we were going to Spain the next day for some heat.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/11433572934/" title="Short Sleeve Mini Penny backdrop by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="Short Sleeve Mini Penny backdrop" height="640" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3666/11433572934_78a95a01f7_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
Prettiest photographic location to date.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/11433713723/" title="Short Sleeve Mini Penny by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="Short Sleeve Mini Penny" height="640" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3825/11433713723_c8b424aa6c_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
MOST DIFFICULT TO ACTUALLY PHOTOGRAPH. Seriously, blinding white hot light.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/11433537335/" title="Mini Penny tunic by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="Mini Penny tunic" height="640" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5476/11433537335_56fc1bcaf0_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
Back to darker / colder / more familiar territory (ie our back garden), here's a tunic length version I did in ye olde French terry from the stash.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/11433590776/" title="blue euro Mini Penny by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="blue euro Mini Penny" height="640" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5550/11433590776_308ae494d2_z.jpg" width="426" /></a> </div>
<br />
The fabric has around 10% stretch so this pattern is definitely doable in winter-weight knits.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/11433590316/" title="blue euro Mini Penny pockets by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="blue euro Mini Penny pockets" height="640" src="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2891/11433590316_17dd5632a9_z.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
Like most of my other Mini Pennys, this one has pockets. I made the executive decision not to include the pockets in the pattern as with 12 sizes in two lengths each the pattern pieces are very crowded <i>without </i>pocket placement lines but I'll be offering them on the blog in the new year as a free add on.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/11433722613/" title="Mini Penny Testers Collage by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="Mini Penny Testers Collage" height="564" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5523/11433722613_61b8d5f5d3_z.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
<br />
And here's a selection of the testers' Mini Pennys!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/kid_md/11125612376/" title="Penny Pinafore x2 by kid_md, on Flickr"><img alt="Penny Pinafore x2" height="640" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7435/11125612376_73c8c7a948_z.jpg" width="496" /></a></div>
<br />
<a href="http://katiekadiddlehopper.blogspot.com/2013/12/kitschy-coo-penny-pinafore.html" target="_blank">Katie </a>even made a matching Penny and Mini Penny for her and her daughter! Based on this picture alone, I'm going to have to try this to improve my relationship with Maia. I have never seen two people more delighted to be in each other's company wearing matching clothes. If mini doppelgangers are your bag too, from now until Christmas Day you can use PENNY at checkout for 20% off two or more patterns. It's good for <a href="http://kitschycoo.bigcartel.com/category/patterns" target="_blank">any of my patterns</a>, it doesn't specifically have to be the Pennys. If you have bought two or more patterns since Monday, expect a refund!<br />

Release the hounds, release the kracken, release what you have at hand but <a href="http://kitschycoo.bigcartel.com/product/the-penny-pinafore-sewing-pattern-for-teens-and-women" target="_blank">The Penny Pinafore</a> is finally available in <a href="http://kitschycoo.bigcartel.com/" target="_blank">my shop</a>! If you haven't heard me talking about nothing else for the last month, here's a description of the pattern:<br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<span style="font-size: small;">This
striking knit dress has shapely princess seams, a scooped banded
neckline, a gently curved a-line shape in three different lengths
(tunic / mini / knee length), and options for banded cap sleeves, ¾
length sleeves or long sleeves. It's designed to flatter the figure
with a close fit through the bust, subtle waistline shaping through
the natural waist, and then gently skimming over the lower waist and
hips. The separate panels and princess seams give ample opportunity
for fitting to individual shapes and adjusting to preferred ease. In
a single colour or overall print the dress lends itself to a casual
wardrobe staple that's cute thrown over leggings or tights, or use a
contrasting print or colour in the centre panels for an striking
hourglass shape. There are eight sizes included in the pattern,
ranging from a 30” to 44” high bust, and a 24” to 38” high
waist. Due to the slightly challenging nature of sewing princess
seams and easing different curves into each other, I would class this
an intermediate pattern but essentially it's a very quick sew.</span></div>
</blockquote>
And just to cleanse the internet's visual palette of only <i>me </i>wearing the Penny Pinafore round these parts, here's a <i>fraction </i>of the makes my awesome testers made. I think they made nearly twenty between them, they are <b>the absolute best</b>. And my mum tested for me this time so I am nearly a family business.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Also the best is my digitiser, Susan, from <a href="http://crafterhoursblog.com/" target="_blank">Crafterhours</a>. If you're looking for a digitiser she's a joy and a pleasure. Better comb your hair, though, as she really likes Facetime.<br />

Want to wear coordinating Penny Pinafores with your little doppelganger? The Mini Penny will be released tomorrow!<br />

<br />
I released this pattern specifically for the Designer's Challenge (initiated by the awesome Andrea from <a href="http://www.thetraintocrazy.com/" target="_blank">The Train To Crazy</a>), where designers were challenged to come up with the unique 'original' pattern. It's being going strong for over a month now, there's some fun patterns! You can check them all out on <a href="http://patternrevolution.com/featured-designer/" target="_blank">Pattern Revolution</a>.<br />
<br />Kitschy Coohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14498979148251880818noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5435738925121167166.post-57145644770561845832013-12-14T11:44:00.000+00:002013-12-14T11:44:02.028+00:00This just in: a new retailer and lots and lots of prints<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/11365302364/" title="New Hilco Collage by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="New Hilco Collage" height="640" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3811/11365302364_7d8cbbd464_z.jpg" width="429" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm absolutely delighted to introduce Hilco from Germany as a new retailer! You might recognise the designer, Hamburger Liebe, from the Simply Apples and Supahero that I have stocked in the past but she has now teamed up with Hilco and it's every more exciting to have her great designs on <a href="http://kitschycoo.bigcartel.com/category/fabric-by-supplier-hilco" target="_blank">sweatshirting and woven babycord</a>. You heard me correctly, <b>sweatshirting</b>. You're lucky I'm not saving all of these for me. The three on the left are 95% cotton / 5% elastane sweatshirting and the three on the right are 100% cotton babycord. They are <i>slightly </i>narrower than some of my other fabrics, coming in 145 cm / 55" width, but as they're not directional you can make the absolute most of your cut.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/11365367103/" title="New Lillestoff Collage by kitschycoo, on Flickr"><img alt="New Lillestoff Collage" height="640" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7341/11365367103_4acb9f36ce_z.jpg" width="429" /></a></div>
<br />
Also arriving yesterday was a huuuuge box from Lillestoff! I've restocked <a href="http://kitschycoo.bigcartel.com/product/deep-turquoise-organic-jersey-by-the-half-metre" target="_blank">deep turquoise plain jersey</a> (which is just as well as I recently sold out of the very-close-shade petrol plain jersey) and the popular <a href="http://kitschycoo.bigcartel.com/product/light-blue-scandiflower-organic-cotton-jersey-by-the-half-metre" target="_blank">Light Blue Scandiflower</a>, but also added another six prints. We've got the top two AMAZING feather prints (my favourites), two apt-for-British-winter Rain themed prints, the gorgeous Christmassy Fall birds with holly berries, and a glorious Woodland fabric with bears, deer, rabbits, hedgehogs and squirrels. The rabbits are giving the side-eye, guys, so despite the fact I sold out of the brown side-eye foxes this week the cosmic balance of judgmental animals is maintained. Somebody really needs to write Phd thesis on the use of the side-eye in Scandinavian fabric design.<br />

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29862720@N05/11170229813" title="dotties paneled pinafore full by Amanda Cusick, on Flickr"><img alt="dotties paneled pinafore full" height="640" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5490/11170229813_5d85b2ffac_z.jpg" width="427" /></a> </div>
<br />
As I got towards the end of the bolt of this Tulipa Dotties I selfishly took it out of the shop and reserved it for me. Yes, it's a bit garish and riotous, and the just-over-a-metre cut mean it's <i>also </i>super mini but <b>I regret nothing.</b> I think I have tights to match at least half of these colours. The resident / reluctant photographer didn't notice that there was a random shaft of light coming around the side of the building so there's a weird streak across the dress in all the pictures. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwetFvUYh1tjMul4IIe-va69y6RBjemmGTG4T00_Z5NvPlIaZ_TRQV97-G2WKu7ouC9g8NfyMFPsJNm_RvqqQOPoLI8pBNRBCulTQAsi8sHY7ZeYrBj5IaXcYAw6Z__pSNmpxFaIeNd6Ck/s1600/deal+with+it.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwetFvUYh1tjMul4IIe-va69y6RBjemmGTG4T00_Z5NvPlIaZ_TRQV97-G2WKu7ouC9g8NfyMFPsJNm_RvqqQOPoLI8pBNRBCulTQAsi8sHY7ZeYrBj5IaXcYAw6Z__pSNmpxFaIeNd6Ck/s1600/deal+with+it.gif" /></a></div>
<br />
Meh, whatever. I'm in love with this dress and nothing can taint that.<br />
<br />

Not even my roots situation or derp feet.<br />

<br />
Testing is going awesome and I'm getting pretty excited about this pattern. All I need to do is settle on a name. I like the Little and Lady play on the Skater and would like something similar for this. Any ideas?<br />

There are still two full days left to save 20% off <a href="http://kitschycoo.bigcartel.com/" target="_blank">everything in my shop</a> using the code BLACKFRIDAY at checkout! It's been manic so far, and some of my favourite fabrics are running low. *sob*<br />

Speaking of favourite fabrics, I've <i>finally </i>decided to part company with my wovens. Due to my current focus on knits, my poor sad wovens weren't getting much action and I also desperately need the shelf space. As my friend Kym pointed out yesterday, sorting and listing my wovens was like a trip down memory lane- each one of these fabrics has featured in blog posts and makes allllll the way back to 2007. When looking them up prior to listing I found that a huge amount are Out Of Print / Rare, which made my inner hoarder want to keep them even more. Or sell them by the FQ on Etsy and and retire to Malta. For sake of ease they're <a href="http://kitschycoo.bigcartel.com/category/destash-wovens" target="_blank">bundled by colour or theme</a>.<br />

<br />
And finally, I've listed quite a few random one-size-only <a href="http://kitschycoo.bigcartel.com/category/clothing" target="_blank">clothing items</a> that have been hanging in my sewing room since last year. They're already made so ready to ship!<br />
