Free giveaway of my double breasted coat pattern

My shipment from the print company arrived yesterday and the tute looks great! So, without further ado, you can buy it here. If you're in the UK and would prefer to get it in pounds, let me know and I will list it on Folksy.

The full package (I ended up going all paper rather than an e-pattern) is for the tutorial and pattern to make a reversible double breasted coat of your own! The coat has an a-line shape, peter pan collar or pixie hood, and can be folded up at the sleeve edges to get maximum length of wear. The coat is also fully reversible so you get two coats in one!

The full-colour 12 page tutorial explains the process step by step with easy to follow instructions. There are construction tips and hints as you go along. The tutorial includes the option for a peter pan collar or a pixie hood. The pattern includes pieces for 18m/ 2T and 3T/ 4T. I would rate the difficulty as advanced beginner or intermediate.

To celebrate the launch of my first pattern for sale, I would like to have a free giveaway competition here on my blog! It'll open today and I will randomly select a winner on Sunday night. All you have to do is leave a comment on this post (if you're posting as Anonymous make sure you leave some way to contact you!). If you want to be super-helpful, I'd love to know if there is something you'd like to make but can't find a pattern for. Give me some inspiration for other patterns to draft!

  3. I have said it before, but I love your coat and would love the pattern. As for another pattern...I've been commissioned to make a Fedora hat and I CANNOT find a pattern. I know it's not what you normally sew, but if you hear of one..will you point me towards it?
    Thanks!

  5. Well done on getting anything done after xmas and the finger episode! I've been lusting after this coat for a while now - we can finally give it a whirl. I'll try my luck with the amazing free giveaway - it's very generous, thank you. I might win it the same time I win my dream machine on ebay!!! I'm a new sewer and we don't have pattern shops here in Portugal so I've never used one. Consequently I make it up as I go along! There is one dress that really had potential but the neck just wasn't right. It is a summer one with a scoop neck and the front had an apron thing - like a giant pocket attached at the middle, yoke and sides - hmm have a look at here if you are having trouble visualising it ! It's the kangaroo dress.

  7. I'd like to be considered for the giveaway too please.... I love the coat and think it's beautiful - the photos you take show your clothes off so nicely. (I need to work on my photos LOL)

I would really love to make this for my daughter who will be 2 at the start of March.

a new pattern..... hmm...... I would love to see a pattern for a red riding hood style hooded cloak with a button or toggle fastening on the front. Almost like a poncho but open at the front and hooded.

Thanks for the chance at the giveaway!

  8. This is so generous of you! I know that it was a labor of love getting it all together. I swear I'm not kissing up, even though I'd be thrilled to win it. I'd been thinking about making my daughter a coat for a while- everything in the store is awful or too pricey to fit her for just a year. Thanks again for the thought!

  9. I've loved this coat since I was randomly googling a coat pattern and found your posts on craftster. I've been following your blog since. I love this little coat and think you did an amazing job!

  10. Hi-
I have been admiring your clothes for a while now. I always look for you on the Craftster Community site to see what adorable things you have created. I saw a top that you did that I really would love to make! Its the sleeveless top with the two large buttons at the top. My 2 yr old *hates* to wear pants. If I can put her in any kind of top/dress like the one I saw- she will let me put pants undreneath. I would love to make this coat. It has such a clasic look. All of the coats in my area for her size are pink/fur or plaid. I want that classic look without the predictable prints. Thanks so much for posting your clothes- I started sewing a year ago and love to see what "real" moms can do!!

  11. (sorry if this is a repeat - my comments keep disappearing!)

Just to say this is gorgeous! I love your colour choices and the details are fab. Lovely to see little girls' things that aren't pink...

Please count me in for the giveaway!

  13. What a fab little coat!! One of the girls at work is having a baby in the summer, and I'd like my gift to her to be something that isn't newborn sized... this would be perfect to make.

  14. That coat is absolutely gorgeous, also due to the amazing fabrics you've picked.

I am so pleased to read about paper patterns too as I am not keen on the whole PDF thing. I love something tangible.

As for other patterns my only suggestion is larger sizes. I seem to find loads of great stuff for toddlers but they all seem to stop just before my daughter's size 5.

  15. That coat is adorable, I'd love a copy if it's not too late?

  16. I am so excited that you finally have the pattern done. But I am bummed also because it only goes to a size 4. :P My girl is in size 5 now, do you think you'll ever make a bigger size?
