What's New In Skater Dress Land

Lots of exciting news to share about the Skater Dress pattern!  First up, did everyone see this lovely little girl sporting a miniature Skater Dress?

'But wait, Amanda, surely she's too little for your Skater Dress?' you plaintively ask.  Not so!  I have graded the pattern down for sizes 6-12m and 12-18m, and you can get them for free here.  It's just the pattern pieces to download, if you want the instructions they come with the pattern for the bigger girls. Many thanks to Max California for testing it out and writing such a sweet post, and also for being the co-creator of that delicious baby. Nice work, my friend.
In other Free Skater Dress News, Katie drafted an adorable flutter sleeve for all sizes and is gracious enough to share both the pattern and the instructions! Seriously, one of the kindest people around, Katie is.

Finally, my heart grew at least two sizes last week seeing all of the awesome Skater Dresses pop up in the Kids Clothes Week Flickr pool.  There were heaps on Instagram too!  Love seeing all the variations from appliques, waistbands, pattern mixing, flutter sleeves, peplums... and see that little gentleman top left? Lengthening the bodice of the Skater Dress yields awesome tanks and tees!  Keep on keeping on, peeps.

    my daughter needs these in her life and the peplum top, which i soo didnt get when you discussed it before, but now i love it! (lesson learnt, trust the designer!)

    oh you just reminded me i never put my up on flicker (i so love this pattern and have 2 more cut and ready to go when my sewing machine stops being a brat (a.k.a when i figure out why it's pulling too much thread through and clumping on the bottom) *very sad situation *sniff

    Thank-you! My GD is only 13 months old and I've been sulking because I couldn't make her a Skater Dress for ages yet :) Now, I wonder where I could find some cute fabric......;)

    Hi Amanda,

    after reading the skater dress review on "train to crazy" i purchased the pattern. now that i finally come around to sewing it for my daughter i noticed that you have not included a sizing chart with pattern. could you tell me the Source of your sizing - i am guessing you must be working with one when you create your patterns. my child usually differs from the standard for her age (2,5 years - 90 cm tall with a bust circumference of 50 cm and hip circumference of 54 cm). Could you give me a hint if i should be grading the pattern between the smallest for the bust/hip and the 3t/4t for the height?

    Thanks in advance. i just don't want to ruin precious fabric with too much guess work....
