In my typical day-before-holiday sewing rush, the lions' share was (as always) lots of children-makes but I did manage to rustle up another two Casual Lady Tops for me. They're so quick to make! Like my previous Casual Lady, I skipped the facings and bound the neck and sleeve edges and to speed it up even further I repeated the same back and front identical trick.
Which means that when it's been folded in your suitcase and wrinkled on badly on one side you can flip it right round to reveal the (minutely) less wrinkled side. Did I tell you a have a shiny new camera? Alas, still not photogenic.
Both of the fabrics were Ebay purchases; it's incongruous to have a fabric shop and buy additional fabric but I wanted something lighter and drapier for the heat. And by lighter and drapier I mean nastier and synthetic. That'll
Still, fit for the purpose and wearable. Casually giving my kids my best 'ORLY?' side-eye.
The tops look great!
ReplyDeleteLove them! And your pro side eye!
ReplyDeleteCute tops! Looks like you're having fun in the USA.
ReplyDeleteThose are great! I printed this pattern a few days ago but got discouraged by the facing. I can't imagine anything good coming from a knit facing in my case. Bindings instead! Brilliant!!
ReplyDeleteLovin that purple one. The colors suit you so well! Glad to see you squeezed in some sewing for yourself!
ReplyDeleteI like it with the binding instead of facing I'll have to try that!
ReplyDeleteHi, I like this idea. I looked at the pattern and it appears that you cut your neckline a bit deeper, is that true? I like your neckline as the one at Casual Lady looks a bit tight or a little binding.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great idea, I feel motivated.
I did lower the neckline! Off the top of my head, I think I shaved about 1/2" off at the shoulder seam neckline and about 1.5" at centre front and then re-drew the neckline curve to make it more rounded. I don't like tight necklines either :)
DeleteI wish you would create your own pattern as I prefer your neckline and I don't know that I could alter mine as well as you have. I'd be your first customer for it!
