Some people have noticed I haven't blogged in a couple of days. My mom even phoned to see if I am all right. I am not all right. I have been sitting, and rocking, in a corner, since Tuesday. Because that was the day I took the kids to see this:
It's not too often I'm at a loss for words, but I can categorically say hand on heart and Girl Scout promise: THIS IS THE WORST MOVIE EVER MADE. I wasn't able to take a picture of our collective hatred (yes, even the kids hated it) lest I be deemed a pirate but it went something like this:
But it gets worse. Remember the object of my affections from Criminal Minds? Or, as he shall ever be remembered from now on: Simon.
Thank you, 20th Century Fox for ruining one of the few joys in my life.
And then today, looking for screengrabs, I find out that the readers of Time Out: London have given it an average review of four stars out of five:
IMDB after Rennie gets her hands on it?
My favourite review?
This is the world I have brought children into.
OMG....those comments....'if you havent SAW it'????....and that Gabriella!!! What is the world coming to....
ReplyDeleteDo you think they're for real...or they just winding us up?
ReplyDelete@English Grandma: I was willing to think that they were just kids (which was scary in and of itself) but some of the comments had things like 'I took the kidz to see this' so they were adults! And they're breeding...
ReplyDeleteReally! was it that bad!.....I keep seeing the advert where they sing Beyonce and it looked kinda fun!!!
ReplyDeleteMy kids want to see this, and I have been putting off taking them to see it. Now I know why....
ReplyDeleteI..ahem...actually...didn't mind it.
ReplyDeleteI have a dislike of the chipmunks anyway, but glad to hear it's actually justified!
ReplyDeleteAnd glad you're still alive even if traumatised.
Yes. We took the decision to sit at home rather than put ourselves through that - you poor things!
ReplyDeleteI took mine to see it and it wasn't that bad! Honest! One was unable to take his eye's off the screen and the other was dancing (Only when the girls sang... Obviously)
ReplyDeleteErm.... the mini mads loved it, but then they love anything with singing in!
ReplyDeleteHe he he, I shouldn't laugh as my boy has expressed interest in the past (but thank god has forgotten) but my brother took his children to see it and he tweeted it was one of the most unpleasant things ever to happen to him, worse than getting his A level results, worse than when someone drove into his first car, in fact he'd rather have eaten marmite
ReplyDeleteCan't comment on the film..perhaps thats a good thing but grammar and spelling ooooo...it makes my blood boil!!
ReplyDeleteThank God I don't have small children anymore. Particularly when the reviews are written by ilitterittes (!)
ReplyDeleteyea gods.. Boy watched 15 minutes of it on the plane.. and that was enough for him... and I am horrified about Reed=Simon.. *rocks in corner*
