The post where I learn to smile with an open mouth, that my children were switched at birth and I might be a lesbian

It is, apparently, Doppelganger Week. If you have been over on Facebook recently, you might have been surprised to see your feed full o' celebrities. Not so. They are just your regular friends who have changed their picture to someone they have been told they look like. Sadly, I couldn't play this game because no one has ever told me I look like someone famous. So unfair. But determined to play, I turned to My Heritage. And this is what they, the sponsors of Doppelganger week, had to say:

Do you know what? As alarming as this is, I should have quit right now. Because being 96% similar to Camilla Belle is no bad thing. But I was curious to try another, more recent picture:

Oh Dear Lord. I guess this is proof that the last two years have not been kind to me.

I blame it on the stress of finding out that my children were probably switched at birth for babies of another ethnicity and / or gender.

And that I might be a lesbian because Steven is the closest thing to Samaire Armstrong that I could find. But you know what? My Heritage is full of rubbish. Because this is Steven's Doppelganger:

Something cool, something clever, something random: Part two

Something cool:

I had my first sale on my relaunched website yesterday, one of these:

And not only that, when I was just about to share my excitement on Twitter, I saw this:

Double cool!

Something clever:

Steven brought home some chocolate buttons for the kids last night. I didn't want to open them because it was too close to bedtime. But Maia was pestering for a treat, I said she could have one if she went wee on the potty. She has never done this, she hates the toilet, she hates the potty. Despite being physically ready for potty training, she is resolutely against the concept. How smug I felt that those buttons wouldn't be opened. But with the specter of chocolate looming, she plopped herself on the potty and promptly deposited a capful of wee. And so a single button was given. Five minutes later, another capful of wee, another button. Five minutes later, another capful of wee, another button... And repeat four times. This little game of tiny wees and rewards was only cut short by bedtime. Clever little minx.

Something cool, something clever and something random

  • Something cool:

I got an email from my sister in law in Boston with a very mind-blowing story. When she was at the local playground with my niece, she saw a little girl wearing my polka-dot asymetrical coat. When she asked the lady where she bought it, she said she bought it online from a seller in Europe!

  • Something clever:

Our house has turned into a set of Who Wants to be a Millionaire. Jamie has discovered that saying 'Are you sure?' repeatedly causes a crisis in confidence that sends other family members into a tailspin. When asking his sister 'You want to play in my bedroom?', her negative response can turn into a positive result the more he persists in questioning her original answer. And I certainly feel more amenable when (in the middle of working on something) I decline playing with him when he responds, 'You no wanna play with me. Are you sure?'. Clever little passive aggressive bugger.

  • Something random:

When I was walking to the shops yesterday, a fox came out of a lane and walked with me until a passing black lab scared him off.
