Folksy finds home decor

This week's Folksy Finds are lovely handmade items to adorn your home!

This beautiful Reclaimed Elm Wall Clock by KnottyBurr Woodcraft Handmade has been finely sanded and finished with Danish oil to bring out the grain. So sophisticated!

I love the colours and textures of this Lonely Tree art print by Sascalia. It a print of a mixed media collage painting using collage papers, ink and acrylic paint.

Folksy's resident decoupage artist extraordinaire, Ooops a Daisy, has created this beautiful Black/cream toile de jouy wooden side table from a recycled wooden side table and I think the result is stunning!

This eye-catching set of six Wooden butterfly coasters by Lino King Cards are limited edition and made from environmentally friendly and sustainable resources. The design is from a lino print which has been reproduced onto the coaster.

This beautiul White ceramic oil burner from Lauren Ceramics has a lovely round shape with holes that allow the candle to shine through while producing enough heat to burn the oil at the top of the burner. Functional and gorgeous!

I fell in love when I saw this Concentricity Mirror by Dig the Earth. In the artist's own word's, "This 10 inch square pine mirror frame has been lovingly (and very painstakingly!) decorated with beautiful hand drawn concentric circles, using waterproof permanent ink. A very graphic, bold statement piece! I absolutely love this mirror and am secretly hoping it doesn’t sell, so I can keep it!" I don't blame him!

I smile whenever I see this adorable felt Traffic jam bunting by Nickynackynoo. It has two double decker buses, two black cabs, two blue cars and two button traffic lights on a red grosgrain ribbon. Perfect for a funky little boy's room!

This sweet Polka dot cushion by Linen and Roses would be perfect for a little girl's bedroom, with it's pink and red dots, little floral hearts and buttons.

Another item to make the kids (and adults!) happy is this is a friendly chicken doorstop made from pre-loved fabric and filled with UK grown pearl barley. His name is Wilson and he's made by Jenny's Textiles.

And for the nursery, these ABCD Giant Soft Blocks by Sleep Dream Play are both understated and beautiful. Made from a digitally printed collection of fabric of her own designs, these blocks promise to be well-used and treasured!

Folksy Finds Dan Jackson

So it's Friday, you know the drill! I normally feature ten different products by ten different sellers, but this week I'm doing something a bit different... I've been desperate to feature someone for awhile but I haven't been able to fit him into one of my categories (plus I can't narrow down his work into a single favourite!). So this week, I'm turning all of my attention to a single person... step forward Dan Jackson!

As you've probably gathered if you read my blog, I have a bit of an *ahem* unique sense of humour. I like quirky, I like clever, I like subversive... and I love Dan's photography. He does a lot of amazing things with food and little people:

Hands up, I admit the last one is my favourite. I laugh everytime I see it. Sorry, Mom...

The promise of cupcakes

Probably a lot of you know about Covetables, but if not, you really should! I first came across her on Folksy through her adorable sewn creations. This is my favourite:

Not only is she an amazing sewer and maker, but also a professional baker. Ever since I saw the lovely cupcakes on her blog, I've been salivating over them. Nothing conjures up happy nostalgic memories more than cupcakes! And then she kindly shared a recipe for chocolate cupcakes, and I've been determined to make them. So yesterday I promised Jamie that we would make them together over the weekend, and he harrassed me relentlessly until I capitulated. The recipe looked really easy so I was confident we couldn't screw it up with my terrible baking skills.

After the 36 hour build-up to cupcake making, Jamie helped for a bit, then got bored and left me to it.

Here are Steven and Jamie 'patiently' waiting for them to cool down enough to eat.

See how that smile looks a bit demented? 'I would like cupcake' was chanted more than six hundred times until my ears started bleeding and I fainted from the stress of it.

In a shocking turn of events, I resisted the urge to bastardise cartoon characters, so its probably the most sophisticated baking I've ever done. Don't they look pretty?! And I got to use an icing plunger thingy, I feel like a proper grown up.

Maia was chuffed when she woke up from her nap and was immediately handed a cupcake. Not normal practise and a pretty bad precedent, I admit... But Jamie was an hour into his second round of torture with 'I would like another one cupcake' and I had stupidly said he could have another one when Maia woke up. More fool me...

Folksy finds Tea

I'm continuing my ode to all things tea-related with this week's Folksy finds featuring lovely tea themed items.

These beautiful Tea Cup pin pots by Paperfish are so bright and cheerful with ribbon and button embellishments.

This stunning I heart Tea Tea cosy by Vintage Town has been all over the blogs lately, and for good reason! What a lovely combination of colours, fabrics and textures!

This screenprinted Time for tea tote by Cuppa Tea and Cake is a great multi-purpose bag, and very pretty to boot!

This charming 'Tea on the lawn' teacup candle by Clarabows is a lovely vintage teacup candle cup and saucer set containing a tea and shortbread scented Eco-Soya wax candle. After the candle is done, you have a beautiful fine china set for your tea!

I'm a big fan of Lucy Player's illustrations and this Tea and Biscuits card set is representative of her simple yet stunning work. It comes with three cards featuring tea pots, tea cups, and biscuits!

Another one of my favourite sellers is Zoe Woods, whose shop is chock-full of adorable jewellery. This Tea Party collaged wooden brooch has an adorable rabbit, a tea set, and sparkly stars. What more could you ask for?!

This eye-catching Tea time mixed media card by Yellow Magpie & Yellow Wren is a high quality inkjet print of a digital illustration, hand embellished with vintage embroidery threads. I love the purple and orange contrast and the stitching is gorgeous.

The hugely talented Lupin Handmade has a multitude of felty tea goodness in her shop, but I chose this Tea Badge for that wonderful blue colour.

This Mr Tea Hand doodled Mug by Tee and Toast has a choice of "I pity the fool that don't drink tea" or "Make me some damn tea fool!". Cute and quirky!

I've been waiting for a theme that would let me feature the delectable soaps made by Saffron Barr... This Matcha green tea soap was inspired her recent trip to Tokyo, and Matcha Green Tea ice cream!
